  • Development[edit]

In June 2015, director Pa. Ranjith announced his third directorial venture, which would follow his previous two films Attakathi (2012) and Madras (2014), with Rajinikanth via Twitter. Working with Ranjith would make Kabali Rajinikanth's first film with a novel director for the first time since his collaboration with S. Shankar in Sivaji (2007).[6] In an interview with IndiaGlitz, producer S. Thanu revealed that Rajinikanth had personally asked him to produce the Ranjith-directed film. The producer's commercially successful Bairavi (1978) was Rajinikanth's first lead role film and the two had not collaborated since.[7] It was speculated that Rajinikanth's role would be based on a real-life mob boss from Chennai.[8] Santhosh Narayanan was confirmed as the film's music composer, continuing his partnership with Ranjith after the latter's previous two films. Ranjith also retained G. Murali, the cinematographer of Madras.
On 17 August 2015, Ranjith announced the title of the film to be Kabali and that Rajinikanth would play the role of Kabaliswaran.[9] The makers of the film had earlier considered using the title Kaali, which was the title of Rajinikanth's 1980 film. As that film did not do well in the Tamil Nadu box office at the time, the makers passed on using it for the new film. Another title, Kannabhiran, was also considered but it was later found that the title's rights were already held by directorAmeer Sultan for a future film.[10]

    Casting[edit]

In the film, Rajinikanth plays the role of an ageing don.[11] Dinesh Ravi, who played the lead in Ranjith's Attakathi (2012), and Kalaiyarasan, who played pivotal roles in both of the director's previous films, were also confirmed to be part of the film. The main villain role was offered to Prakash Raj initially,[12] but later it was said that the role was declined due to scheduling issues and John Vijay stepped in.[13] It was later confirmed that the role of the lead character's wife would be given toRadhika Apte, who was introduced to Tamil films through Dhoni (2012).[14] Dhansika was signed to play a supporting character in the film.[15]

    Filming[edit]

On 18 August 2015, director Pa Ranjith announced on his Twitter page that principal photography would begin the following week,[16] which was confirmed on 22 August when Behindwoods covered a photo shoot which took place on 21 August atAVM Studios in Chennai. First schedule of the filming started on Vinayagar Chaturthi on 17 September 2015 at the Russian Centre of Science and Cultural in Chennai.

V. Koshy and established Udaya Studios in Alleppey (Alappuzha), and in time the studio also set up its own distribution network. Soon it had a string of successes with blockbusters based on Vadakkan Pattu. Unniyarcha (1961) Palattukoman (1962) Othenante Makan (1970) Aromalunni (1972) Ponnapuram Kotta (1973) Thacholi Marumakan Chandu (1974) Thumbolaracha (1974) Kannappanunni (1977) Thacholi Ambu (1978) Kadathanattu Makkam (1978) Palattu Kunjikannan (1980)

After Kunchako's death in 1976, his son, director Boban Kunchacko, took over the functioning, but after his death in 2004 at the age of 55, the studio saw some bad days. However, Dr. Avinash Unnithan (Suryamangalam Group) has taken up the studio and it is being renovated and revamped in an attempt to bring it to its past glory, as per the need of the time, like an air-conditioned shooting floor and other facilities attached to it, but also taking utmost care to preserve the old structures thereby keeping alive the nostalgic feel of the place.

Aby (Kunchacko Boban) and Sona (Shalini) are neighbor and family friends. They were brought up together and have been together since childhood. They share a special form of friendship and romance was nowhere in their plan. They are pair of pranksters, fun-loving and always up to some tricks. Their families find their friendship special, their friends call them siamese twins (having never seen them away from each other).

The story take a turn, when Sona goes to Bangalore to participate in a youth festival, Aby misses her so much that he realizes that what he feels for Sona is more than friendship. He is all set to tell her his love when he realizes that he doesn't know how she feels about him, also he feels he should not take undue advantage of the freedom their parents have given them. When Sona returns, she tells Aby about Prakash Mathew (Boban Alummodan), who proposed to her when they were in Bangalore. Sona, who is confused about her feelings for Prakash, confides in Aby who encourages her to confess her feelings to Prakash. Sona and Prakash become a couple but this brings unexpected strain into Aby's and Sona's friendship. Prakash's reactions to Aby's closeness to Sona makes Aby realize things will never be the same again. Aby realizing that Sona is hurt by Prakash's actions towards him starts showing interest towards Varsha (Jomol), who has always been in love with Aby. Aby starts avoiding Sona and starts spending more time with Varsha. This infuriates Sona.

Meanwhile, Prakash and Sona's marriage is fixed. Varsha asks Aby to meet her Dad, but he does not turn up for the meeting giving excuses. Varsha later tells him that she realizes that he loves Sona and as long as that is the case, he would never reciprocate her feelings and it is best to tell Sona the truth. In the meantime, arrangements start for Sona's marriage to Prakash. After a dinner where the families of Aby, Sona and Prakash discuss marriage, Sona realizes that she would be moving to USA, away from her parents and Aby . She gets emotional and asks him why he never loved her, then everything would have been perfect! Aby is overcome by emotion and hugs her. He apologizes and leaves immediately. Sona is shocked at the extent of his feelings and she goes to his house and finds a card in which he has written SUK-RI-YA (which in the movie means - I love you) near her name. Sona is hurt and when Aby comes into the room gets very angry at him for having hidden so many things from her and finally tells him that she loves him too. Aby tries to pacify her and make her understand that it would be inappropriate to tell their parents at this stage.

She gets engaged to Prakash and Aby decides to leave before the wedding. Their parents are flummoxed at his sudden decision to leave and try to dissuade him. Aby is adamant and Sona goes to leave him to the railway station. In the meantime, their parents find out that they are in love and come in search of them to find the pair sitting on the stairs of the station, Aby not having left. Their parents suggest that they get married as they are special for each other.

The film began production in Chennai during early July 2015 and an introductory song for Vijay was shot in the city, followed by scenes featuring the actor and Samantha on the East Coast Road.[10] Further scenes in Chennai were shot at Adityaram Studios and at Binny Mills, where art director T. Muthuraj had erected a huge set.[11] Raadhika Sarathkumar was also a part of the shoot, while actress Sunaina shot for one day in the schedule which ended in mid July 2015.[12][13] The second schedule for the film restarted in Chennai during August 2015 and went on for twenty five days. Vijay and Samantha participated in shooting of the month, while production was briefly delayed owing to a strike held by the Tamil Film Producers council against FEFSI employees.[14] MGM Dizzee World on the East Coast Road was also used as a location to film sequences during August 2015.[15] A further schedule began again for a month long shoot in September 2015 in Chennai.[16]

In November 2015, it was revealed that the film was "seventy percent complete" and portions involving Samantha had finished being shot. Thereafter, Amy Jackson subsequently joined the team in Chennai to shoot for her part during a new schedule.[17] Action scenes, choreographed by Dilip Subbarayan were filmed throughout the month, with the shoot disrupted by the heavy flooding in Chennai.[18] Hollywood action choreographer Kaloyan Vodenicharov worked with the team in early December 2015 to help shoot the climax portions for the film.[19] Poor climatic conditions in China meant that the team had to abandon their idea of filming sequences there and instead opted to shoot in Bangkok.[20][21] Sets were erected in a factory in Chennai to shoot the climax scenes, with stunt choreographer Kaloyan Vodenicharov recruited to help train artistes and film the sequences during December 2015.[

A. K. Sajan initially wrote the script with Renji Panicker in mind for the lead role. But after hearing the script, Renji suggested Mammootty.[2] However Sify reported that, film was planned with Suresh Gopi in lead. Mammootty and Nayantara are playing an inter-caste couple.[1] Regarding the characters, Sajan says, "Mammootty's character in the film, Louis Pothen, almost mirrors his real life personality. He's an easy-going lawyer, who is also a film critic and has a socialist leaning. However, Nayanthara's character Vasuki is diametrically opposite.".[3] The principal photography commenced on 21 August.[4][5] The film was initially titled Solomonte Koodaram,[6] but later changed to Puthiya Niyamam.[7][8] The filming was completed by October 2015 in Ernakulam and Thrissur.[8][9] The post-production works including Mammootty's dubbing were completed in December. However, Nayanthara was unimpressed with the dubbing of her character and expressed her desire to dub for herself.

16 years of ‘Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai’: Here are 10 lesser known facts about Hrithik-Ameesha’s debut

Paavada Mr Review (Official) Rating | Prithviraj Sukumaran | video
Paavada Review (Official) Rating | Prithviraj Sukumaran | video
Pavada, the much awaited Prithviraj starrer directed by G Marthandan had released today all over Kerala. The film produced by popular actor Maniyanpilla Raju is scripted by popular writer Bipin Chandran. As the first release of Prithviraj in this New Year, his fans and film lovers had great anticipation regarding the film. Adding to that hope, Maniyanpilla Raju, the producer of this film said in a recent media interview that this is the biggest film he ever produced and he is damn sure that this will be the film which is going to have the best theater run among the films he had produced till now.

When the producer who produced super successes like Vellanakalude Nadu, Aey Auto, Chotta Mumbai etc says like this, the expectation is bound to raise to another level. The film is very crucial for its director Marthandan, more than anyone as his last film Acha Din with Mammootty was one of the biggest disasters Mollywood had ever seen. So the success of Pavada is a must for Marthandan. The Central character of this film is played by Prithviraj and his character name is Joy. He is drunkard or a severe alcoholic addict. At first we meet the character Babu joseph played by Anoop Menon who is also an alcoholic. Joy meets him when both of them got admitted in a de-addiction centre and later elopes from there together. At Babu’s home, joy finds the reason that ruined his family.

The first half of the film is full of comic numbers from Prithviraj, Anoop Menon, Sharafudheen etc and it was quite an entertainment indeed. It gets emotional and a bit serious in the second half where the plot actually gets its momentum. First of all we have to mention the performances of artists as it is the real highlight of the film. Prithviraj once again proved why he is been regarded as one of the best actors of young generation. As Joy, Prithviraj had given one of his career best performance and we can say that one of the most convincing Alcoholic character after we saw some amazing ones from Mohanlal over these years and a brilliant one from Jayasurya last year. Another grand performance had come from none other than Anoop Menon. As the character Babu Joseph, who is also an alcoholic and an English Professor he had just given one of the sterling performances of his career and once again he showed as the value of his natural and easy way of enacting the character.

Apart from them Asha Sharath had done a great job and artists like Nedumudi Venu. Maniyanpilla Raju, Mia, Sharafudden, Chemban Vinod, Siddique, Renji Panicker etc were done their part to perfection as they always does. Marthandan had made a real comeback after that disaster he had to suffer last year and we can say that Pavada is the best in his career till now. He never let the film go out of his control and narrated the story with enough emotional depth that bound the audience to their seats. Aby Tom Cyriac’s music was super as it really moved along with the atmosphere of the film and it also worked as a source of energy as well. Gopi Sundar had done a great job scoring the background music of the film as well. Bipin Chandran had provided an entertaining script with all elements that you expect from a perfect family entertainer. Pradeep Nair’s Cinematography also worked very well for the film.

Pavada is a happy entertainer which will never let you down. So don’t miss this one from Prithviraj. His rule in box office will continue for sure.
